Absences and lates
Every absence must be explained by a parent, even for independent students (18 and over).
Reporting an absence
Will your child be away, arrive late or need to leave early? Let the school office know by phone or email, with their name, grade and the reason for the absence.
Arriving late
A student who arrives late stops at the office first to get a late slip before going to class.
After more than five lates, parents are notified and meet with a member of the administration to set up a plan. After more than ten, the student has an after-school detention, and parents meet the administration when they pick them up.
School buses
Buses for Conseil scolaire Viamonde schools in our area are run by Francobus.
Routes and eligibility
To find out if your child can take the bus, see their stop and pick-up times, or apply for transportation, visit the Francobus website.
Delays and cancellations
Cancelled buses (for bad weather, for example) are posted on the Francobus website. You can also sign up for its email or text alerts.
Decisions are usually announced before 6:30 a.m. If the school is closed, the notice is posted on the Conseil scolaire Viamonde website.
Code of conduct
The key points of the 2026-2027 code of conduct for parents. French is the language of communication at school, at all times and in all activities (except in English class).
Cell phones
- No phones during class, except for learning (as directed by the teacher), medical reasons or special education needs.
- Grades 7 and 8: phones stay in the locked locker.
- Grades 9 to 12: in the spot the teacher designates (the locker is still the safest place).
- A phone seen in class goes in the teacher's bin; otherwise the administration keeps it until the end of the day.
- Calls are made at lunch. The office only passes on urgent messages from parents.
Trips and fees
- Permission forms for educational or sports trips are signed in SchoolDay (Guichet Viamonde) by the requested date. Verbal permission is not accepted.
- Activity fees: $65 for the year, paid in the Guichet. They help pay for the yearbook, the student ID card and some teams and activities.
- Grade 12 gown and graduation fees are shared during the year.
Drop-off and pick-up
- Use the side door to drop off or pick up your child, never the bus lanes.
- For activities before or after school, pick your child up on time. After 15 minutes, students are asked to go to the White Oaks public library.
- Grade 12 students who want to leave during a study period need their parents' permission in the Guichet.
Lunch
- Students eat in the cafeteria or outside.
- Grade 7 and 8 students don't leave school grounds unless they are with a parent.
Health and safety
- The school is a scent-free environment.
- Medication taken at school needs written permission from parents and is kept at the office.
- Vaping and tobacco are banned at school and within 20 metres of school grounds. Vapes are confiscated and parents are informed.
Personal belongings
- The school's lock is required on lockers ($5 if lost).
- Leave valuables at home: the school is not responsible for loss or damage, phones and laptops included.
- All visitors stop at the office and sign in.
